Hi, I’m Leanne Hembrow—an E-RYT 500 yoga teacher, Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP), Reformer and Mat Pilates instructor, and gut health mentor based on a small island in Southern Moreton Bay, Australia.
For more than 10 years, I worked with thousands of boats heading offshore while living aboard and exploring life at sea. Amid sunrises on the bow, rolling swells and peaceful anchorages, I discovered the power of movement, breath and connection. I taught yoga wherever I could—on deck, in marina sheds and barefoot on the beach. Those experiences shaped the grounded, adaptable way I teach today.

I have hosted yoga retreats in Fiji, bringing people together to practise, rest and reconnect in beautiful island surroundings. My retreats combine mindful yoga, time in nature and the welcoming spirit of island life, with space for each person to move at their own pace.

I have hosted yoga retreats in Fiji, bringing people together to practise, rest and reconnect in beautiful island surroundings. My retreats combine mindful yoga, time in nature and the welcoming spirit of island life, with space for each person to move at their own pace.
From yoga beside the ocean to intimate practices aboard a yacht, these experiences are about more than poses—they offer time to slow down, breathe and return home feeling renewed. Contact me to enquire about future retreats and special yoga events.

Leanne shares some of her favourite poems and quotations—words that have inspired her throughout her journey. She believes we are not defined by our age or by the size of the clothes we wear, and she is drawn to writing that explores courage, balance, freedom, self-acceptance and connection.
Her collection includes the opening and closing pieces “Ocean” (author unknown) and “Yoga” by Max Strom, as well as “Not” by Erin Hanson and “Balance Is the Key” by Rachel Brathen.

Listen to my conversation on the Live the Impossible Today podcast, where I share more about my journey, the experiences that shaped me and my approach to yoga, wellbeing and life at sea.

To me, yoga is more about touching your heart than touching your toes. If you can breathe, you can practise yoga. You do not need a particular body type or level of flexibility—only a willingness to begin. Yoga welcomes everyone.
